TRANSFERRING THE AUTHORITY

By tomorrow at exactly 12 noon will be the big day. Well, that would be the time that the transfer of authority will be transferred to the new set of officers of Teacher's Guild, a student council run by the Education students. This event is a big deal because at this time since the elected officers will be exercising their respective power as the council officials. I, as the new president of Teacher's Guild (TG), too, greatly feel endeavored to our management. But to be honest, this is really never in my plans for staying in Xavier University, where I stayed and studied my course program Secondary Education, and I am on my second year level.

I ran as the candidate of presidency under the banner of Alyansang Atenista, an existing political party in the univeristy, won as the TG President last elections and was proclaimed last March 2. Finally by tomorrow, my authority will be effective as well as TG officers.

Wow, this is a new world to enter and a new environment to adapt, a new dimension to learn. This is a great opportunity to deal with the new aspects of life where we could test and manifest the leadership skills that we all have. Perhaps this is a great outlet to apply them.
Well as early as March, days after the proclamation, we already have met and tried to make  bond with each other and shared thought, opinions amidst awkwardness. This is natural for us since we are not used to be gathering as officers, carrying responsibilities for the Education students who are expecting much from us.

But despite the initial odds we faced, we are strongly believing that we could surpass them because we really believe that we could. For now, we are in the stage of getting to know with each other's strengths and weaknesses. And by it, we could do well in a year of getting along with each other as one body. As president, I envisioned the council to be a full blast!

God bless us with this stepping stone.

Awakening the thoughts of all Pinoys

The surprising blast blown the sleeping minds of the people when the heavy case of human trafficking is re-opened again. With the thoughts of illegal practices, greatly increased the urge of all to participate with the run of the case especially when the Republic of China continually imposed the death sentence to the three Pinoys due to drug trafficking, just this day at exactly 12 noon, the three are executed.
This is the saddest thing happened this year so far. So alarming may it seems but it carries a suitable thing to know since we got something from the incident despite of the sacrificial weeps and griefs of the family that are heard all over the country. Regardless of the efforts of the Philippine government to lessen the sentence, still the Chinese government insist to enforce the death sentence to these people considering the fact that they are really implementing a serious, severe penalty to those persons who would be involved to  distribution of drugs.

But the questions of the people would be then, "What would this incident particularly mean?, What would the government do with this? Would this event be a strong basis for implementing a stronger law for those people who are illegally trafficking, continually victimizing the innocent Filipino to go abroad? Would the penalties to those who committed the undesirable act would be more intensifying? Criminal cases to drug trafficking and other kinds of human trafficking would be more profound? Or would this remain subtle, remain silent, just leave the event just like that?"

There is a lean meat for this since this is calling for an extra action for justice, extra calling for vigilance, awareness for all. We do not even need to depend to the service of the government for that. It is from the individual who desires to go abroad. Filipinos must be extra careful for everything, whether their documents are really deeply acknowledged by the government, whatever their reasons.

But for the case of the three Pinoys who are executed, they are drug trafficked.

But before them, plenty are already been oppressed in a way that they are lured bringing the prohibited object - drugs. But the family reasoned out that they are only victims of those recruiters. But the action is a little bit late for the two countries to make the act of clemency with the pursued sentence.  Hence, the only the thing that the Philippine government could do is to accept the sentence since they have done their part to help their fellow Filipinos.

The epitome of the event calls for a new enactment to promote the prohibition of usage, distribution of illegal drugs to the country. Therefore, to lessen the number of people who will be victimized by the drug traffickers must be given heavy sanctions to promote the security of those Filipinos who wanted to go abroad. This would at least assures these individuals  that by bringing them to another country, they are safe and are convinced that whaever happens to them there, their entry are acknowledged legally thus they are certain enough that the government can do something to help them, and even the country itself.

My heart’s unfathomable state

Why didn’t I realize these things in the first place?

There are times where I just sit down in our sofa, staring at the ceiling, thinking about things that aren’t supposed to think about. I wonder why, there are certain events in our life where we didn’t give any importance at all but then later on, you realize they are really that important in your life since they made something significant in your life. But things happen dissimilar to what you are thinking. Things have changed. They are working indifferently from the way they used to be.

I have started my life at school simply; pondering school life would be focused to the academe. Successfully to proceed to my master’s degree, is what I really what I wanted to achieve. Simply focusing to my academe, studies, scholarships, whatever things attached to it, are my priorities. Being into this field I am positioned for is apart from my dreams, never been thought of ever since I started my college life.

But things changed the time I started to make a big jumpstart to link with the student body since we have a big project to make related to campus matters where critical issues are bothered to be resolved. So, together with my group, we decided to pursue the idea of taking action to anti-vandalism. This made the dawn for activism. But it was increased when I met someone, someone who created a different world for me, who laid down the stairs for me to step on and start climbing on to the great change which will take out from my comfort zone.

Meeting the president of the student body made a big impact to my life. He is the man who inspired me to become somebody who would make a difference. Nobody has done something like he did. In the first place, he is famous for his charm, and witty thoughts, greatly empowers the many to make a step like he did.

Our collaboration with the project made something; it bore a friendship where anyone couldn’t bother to snatch it from us. I really didn’t expect that that collaboration would remain just like that but it begins to be deep. Meeting each other became frequent, as well as sharing text messages to each other until such time where we gave outlet to our personal lives. This is a big deal, where man reaches out to a woman like me to reveal something personal to him. I just came to feel very trustworthy, and that makes me feel glad, so blessed to be part of his life just like that.

Those times, I have remembered, made me feel something for him. I may be considered as a daydreamer yet I am the kind of girl who dreams to be with this kind of person my life time, as long as I live. But it’s just that the world seems to tell me that he isn’t the right person for me by now. He has his own ambition to reach, and I have mine as an undergraduate.

To cut the long story short, I came to the point where I became so attached with him so much. I’ll just wait for the right time where the world is with us. With God’s providence and blessings, we will be together someday. This is the naked truth spoken from the deepest core of my heart. But instances keep us apart. So, for now, I will do something good where he could be so proud of me, that the person whom he had helped from the beginning, made a significant event for the condition of the students, and to the university, whatever means to do service.

He may not be with me physically, but mentally he keeps on telling me that I should do well not only for my sake but for the sake of the common good. And I will just keep on flowing with the surging waves of the sea, to make things normal. I could be with any man, if they would really make efforts to grab my attention to them, but in my deepest thoughts, it’s him I long for.

Be involved, youngsters!

As observed nowadays, youngsters are starting to make big leap towards service to their respective communities which are a big deal in the part of the government where they are expecting an active participation from the people and this implies an active part of a democratic country. In one way or the other, youth are making means to sustain development amongst; linked with their bright ideas for an utmost service they could give for their area. Young people as young as the teenagers are already into school politics which is a huge outlet to service; some teens that aren’t into politics are doing the same in some other ways to make something for the society. Some joined to different civic organizations concerned to different issues within the locale such as the increase of number of aftermaths of poverty i.e. the rise of number of street kids along the streets which is very observable in the area.

Being keen enough to the surroundings, being vigilant to critic the current state of the place they live in, is playing a vital role for sustainability and development of the city; for a greater scale, the country per se. The action done prior to the previous observations of the people around is inspiring especially to those young people who are still suffering from apathy.

To the government, it is better if there would be enough support for the youth affairs where they could participate even just for a little way since this is a big problem for long time. There are different associations where they could get involved but not that visible to the young man’s eyes since they are rarely to be seen. There are government organizations, there are also private ones. This is not dragging, but somehow an evaluation. Try to approach the youth through various manners. They could make use of the media and other means where they could get in touch to them. Try to see the total number of youth in our country, they comprise 54% of the total population of the country yet only 1 in 8 youth acclaimed that they are actively involved to the different organizations.

The country needs the youth very much. If the youth would give a blast, a boom for the country, that would provide an optimal advancement for the country’s existing spot.
This is a dawn for a greater change. The country is calling us for our help. Be involved. Be active
